I’ve been reading, I’ve been reading…. Watermelon (I actually don’t particularly like watermelon so I’m going to change Beyonce’s Lyric to Strawberry) I read quite a bit. It’s so strange that I enjoy reading books but can’t find the time to do all my reading for class. Oh, how I prioritize things! In the last year I’ve read the following books.
Midnight by Sister Souljah
Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man by Steve Harvey
Yes Please by Amy Poehler
College (Un)Bound by Jeffrey J. Selingo
Coldest Winter by Sister Souljah
The Duff by Kody Keplinger
Is Everyone Hanging out without Me? by Mindy Kaling
The Gold Digger’s Guide by Baje Fletcher
Gentlewoman by Enitan O. Bereola
The Defining Decade by Meg Jay
Get Big Fast and Do More Good by Ido Leffler and Lance Kalish
Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Bossypants by Tina Fey
Zero to One by Peter Thiel
Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg
I loved some of these titles above while others I don’t love as much as I thought I would. There has been such a transition for me. Back in the day, I would only read young adult fiction books that focuses on relationships, mystery, and the in/outs that accompanies teenage life. Now I’m really interested in self-help books and memoirs. I like reading honest stories about real people. I didn’t realize how much I read until I began compiling this list. Do you have any book suggestions? Leave them in the comments below.
Hello Lovebugs. Over Easter break I traveled to Chicago. I had a wonderful time. In fact, one of Buzzfeed articles really came in handy. I used one of those “Cheap Eats in this City” to find some hole in the wall places in Chicago. This is suppose to be a Photostory and not a blog post, but I LOVED Chicago. Hopefully, I will see the windy city again soon.
Until the next adventure.
Spring Time! Are you all ready for the spring trends? I was at work and one of my mentors was talking about how you have to eat right during the spring time because you can’t hide all of those winter layers. So here’s to salads. 🙂
I can’t wait to rock spring dresses. Watch out fellas! *giggles*. I’m pretty busty so certain dresses tend to be problematic. I don’t really wear backless dresses because I don’t like when my bra shows. If y’all know a bra that works with backless dress, let a sister know! I can’t wait to rock two-piece dresses (also called coordinate pieces). These are two dresses that I’m very excited about.
I feel like the cuff is a simple accessory for spring time. I think the cuff fits in well with my minimal style. And you can wear the cuff on your wrist or your arm.
I’ve seen so many designer sunglasses that I absolutely love. As a college student I have a budget, I can’t splurge on designer sunnies. If you guys want to send a girl some love let me know. Although, there are some brands like Quay sunglasses that are cheaper. Celebs such as Gigi Hadid and Shay Mitchell have been spotted in the frame.
I really want a cheetah clutch and Chanel inspired bag. One day I will save up for an actual Chanel purse but Zara and Rebecca Minkoff have styles that emulate the classic flap bag. As for the cheetah clutch,k I’m just trying find something affordable.
I really want a matte magenta lip color . I think the matte magenta lip color is the classic red for spring time. I also love neutral colors for smoky eyes. I’m such a brown, gold, bronze, etc… those are my colors.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again… I’m a shoe girl through and through. Shoes are the easiest thing for me to purchase, I fall in love so easily. What can I say, I’m a hopeless shoe-mantic (romantic). The fringe shoes are so gorgeous. I’ve scoured the web for a pair of the cobalt blue ones in my size. I’ve had no luck! Everyone is sold out. I’m hoping to find them in my size and on sale. The black heeled sandals are very cute for spring outfits because they can be dressed up or dressed down. And the chunky heel makes them more comfortable. Finally, the nikes. I love rocking cute nikes when I’m going out to run errands. Every one needs to have a pair of nikes that are solely for going out. Some of you know what I’m talking about, others are confused. Let’s just say that the shoes you work out with shouldn’t be the same pair for your cute, sporty “effortless” looks. I’m looking into getting a pair of Roshe runs. I’m the type of girl that wants to have matching nikes with my boo… *giggles*
What spring trends are you interested in? Let me know in the comments.
