Spring 2K17 is coming with a vengeance. Besides working out at the crack of dawn, I’m trying to revamp my closet. As a working professional there’s an unspoken work uniform. Then when I get home I jump into sweats faster than you can say “sweatpants, hair-tied, chillin with no makeup on” (Drake “Best I Ever Had”). However, weekends and dates are still a chance for me to stunt.
I love the effortlessness of a shirt dress. I think they can be dressed up and dressed down. I tether between style pieces that are masculine and feminine. However, you either need a heavy weight cotton shirt dress or to make sure the dress is lined in order to have a flawless finish. I feel like my grandma whenever I mentioned clothing being lined or “slips” (Slips= undergarments to prevent chaffing and keep skirts/dresses smooth)
Every year I search for the perfect swim suit. Top criteria items include: coverage, support, color/pattern, cut, and finally price. It’s like your girl can never get all five criteria points met. I feel like I would go out swimming more if I had a more legit swimsuit (or swimsuits). I guess this is just maybe indication that I need a tropical gateway to combat this wardrobe deficit.
Streetwear as day wear is nothing new. There’s a rise of sport, comfy, athleisure. I grew up in a house that where there was a certain level of presentation that one must uphold when leaving the house. Consequently, you probably won’t catch me outside in some holey sweatpants. Hoodies are cozy and easy. I gotta try out some hoodies in the future.
Here’s is where the timeless lesson of “you get what you pay for” comes into play. Also suitcases should fall into the category of quality over quantity. Who needs 10 suitcases just hanging around? Exactly. Investing in a good piece will ensure that your belongings get to the destination a-oh-kay. I’m team gray or navy because a black suitcase is just too generic. Something that is subtle yet makes a statement enough for me to spot it at baggage claim.
I’m a tall chica. At 5’9”, finding decent shorts can be challenging. To this day, I do not own rompers. And they look so cute on so many girls. However, I refuse to be Ms. Cheeks walking down the street. Maybe that will change this spring.
Investing in skincare gets me all in my feels. A few YouTubers have taught me the importance of active ingredients and these active ingredients don’t always come cheap. I’m gonna upgrade my skin care soon. Mind you, I’m starting off with travel size of higher end products.
Last but certainly not least. Shoes are so essential to the entire fit. The shoes were the easiest part to put on this vision board. Most of the shoes are opened toed. I love the mid heel sandal. It’s both dressy and causal but most of all- effortless. I do not believe that I’ve owned a pair of espadrilles. But they seem cute. Espadrilles are like those shoes that you don’t know whether or not to wear socks, then they start to stink, and you don’t know whether to throw them out or hold onto the nostalgia of your first pair of TOMS!
May you Spring be ever warm but not hotter than your FLY threads.
